Each person draws their partner, then writes a short message about what they appreciate about them. The two pieces become a personal portrait card for the final reveal.

For facilitators working with SEND, neurodivergent, disabled, or mixed-needs groups, a calmer experience starts with clarity and choice. Participants see one task at a time, media is optional, timing can be flexible, and individual support does not have to stop the whole group.

A few useful details
Do participants need an account? +
No. Participants join with the session link or code and enter a display name.
Do participants need to be good at drawing? +
No. The activity is about paying attention, expressing appreciation, and making something for another person—not producing perfect artwork.
Do cameras and microphones have to be on? +
No. Media is optional, so people can take part in the way that works for them.
Can the facilitator see what is happening? +
The facilitator can see progress and canvas previews, respond to requests, and enter a pair room when support is needed. Participants are told that this support is available.
What happens at the end? +
The facilitator reviews the completed portrait cards, presents them in a group reveal, and can download the finished work.
Is this therapy? +
No. Artbitrator Sessions is a facilitated creative group activity and does not claim to provide clinical or therapeutic treatment.
Is participant work published publicly? +
No. Public gallery publishing is off by default. The facilitator controls access and sharing.
Can Sessions be used for virtual team building? +
Yes. The portrait and appreciation activity is designed to work with remote and hybrid groups, including team appreciation sessions. It is collaborative and facilitator-led rather than competitive.
What kinds of groups is Sessions designed for? +
Sessions is being developed with facilitators of community programmes, charities, education and youth groups, inclusion programmes, workplace teams, and remote communities.
Is Sessions suitable for SEND and neurodivergent groups? +
Sessions is being designed with clear stages, optional media, flexible timing, reduced-motion and large-text options, and ways to request help or more time. Needs vary between people, so facilitators should decide whether the activity is appropriate for their particular group.
